Moves, damage categories and recipes

These pieces form the target group. Evolutions and fusions are earned during the run, rather than assumed at the opening.

Aura SphereFighting · SpecialFocus BlastReflexes
Flash CannonSteel · SpecialSteel BeamArmor
Nasty PlotNormal · SupportNo evolutionNo recipe required
HardenNormal · SupportNo evolutionNo recipe required

Each evolving attack needs level 5, its required run card and its own gold evolution choice. When two recipes share a card, one obtained card can meet both prerequisites; it does not automatically evolve both attacks.

From the opening to the completed group

  1. Start with the real opening: Karate Chop

The default move is Karate Chop. Learn Aura Sphere when offered; do not assume the build’s main attack is available immediately.

This route assumes you already own Lucario. Check its Sinnoh collection before planning the run.

  2. Develop the attacks and their recipes

Aura Sphere → Focus Blast (Reflexes); Flash Cannon → Steel Beam (Armor).

Prioritize the attack handling your current pressure. Permanent upgrades and held items do not replace the evolution card obtained in that run.

  3. Form the group with 3 earned Bonds

Aura Sphere + Flash Cannon + Nasty Plot + Harden.

Join Aura Sphere and Flash Cannon with the first Bond. Add each remaining move with another Bond. Keep that group selected: separate slots do not attack simultaneously.

Positioning and combat decisions

Keep Karate Chop working until Aura Sphere is actually offered. Develop the ranged attack before filling slots with supports, and move out of warning zones even while checking which group is active.

The main tradeoff

Aura Sphere needs Reflexes for Focus Blast, while Flash Cannon needs Armor for Steel Beam. Nasty Plot supports both special attacks; Swords Dance would instead support physical moves such as Karate Chop or Substitute.

One held item: compare the benefit

IF FOUND

Leftovers

Recovers 1.5% of HP per second.

ALTERNATIVE

Quick Claw

20% less cooldown on all moves.

Leftovers supports assembly and Quick Claw supports attack frequency. Choice Band conflicts with a plan that deliberately switches between separate attack and support groups.

Items are found in chests and from defeated bosses. You can hold only one; finding an alternative means choosing between them, and the recommended drop is not guaranteed.

Two groups need more than two Bonds

The advanced reference separates Aura Sphere, Flash Cannon, Substitute and Karate Chop from Nasty Plot and Harden. Forming the four-move attack group uses three fusions; pairing the two supports uses another. Complete the partially filled group before starting a new one. This four-Bond, six-move variant also mixes physical and special attacks, so Nasty Plot does not strengthen every component. It is an optional switching exercise, not the required opening.

These are game base values before account upgrades and run cards. They are not a DPS measurement and do not include target defenses, type matchups or actual landed hits.

  • Permanent upgrades belong to each Pokémon; investing in another partner does not strengthen this one.
  • Strength and Vitality help damage and health; Reflexes and Stride support frequency and movement. Prioritize the problem limiting your next attempt.
  • Ban and Card reroll can shape offers, but do not guarantee a particular card sequence.
