PARTNER BUILD GUIDE

Turtwig build: Whip, orbit and a four-move Bond plan

Develop Turtwig’s Vine Whip first, then build a group with Petal Blizzard, Swords Dance and Harden. Three earned Bonds complete this mixed-damage route; each attacking move still needs its own evolution choice.

Moves, damage categories and recipes

These pieces form the target group. Evolutions and fusions are earned during the run, rather than assumed at the opening.

Petal BlizzardGrass · SpecialPetal DanceSynthesis
Swords DanceNormal · SupportNo evolutionNo recipe required
HardenNormal · SupportNo evolutionNo recipe required

Each evolving attack needs level 5, its required run card and its own gold evolution choice. When two recipes share a card, one obtained card can meet both prerequisites; it does not automatically evolve both attacks.

From the opening to the completed group

  1. Start with the real opening: Vine Whip

Keep Vine Whip active and improve its ability to clear enemies before searching for every support piece.

This partner is among the starter choices.

  2. Develop the attacks and their recipes

Vine Whip → Power Whip (Power); Petal Blizzard → Petal Dance (Synthesis).

Prioritize the attack handling your current pressure. Permanent upgrades and held items do not replace the evolution card obtained in that run.

  3. Form the group with 3 earned Bonds

Vine Whip + Petal Blizzard + Swords Dance + Harden.

Join Vine Whip and Petal Blizzard with the first Bond. Add each remaining move with another Bond. Keep that group selected: separate slots do not attack simultaneously.

Positioning and combat decisions

Work around the pack’s edge so the whip and orbit cover approaching enemies without trapping you in the middle. Turtwig’s low starting speed makes preserving the next exit especially important.

The main tradeoff

Swords Dance improves physical Vine Whip, not special Petal Blizzard. Power Whip and Petal Dance use different prerequisite cards. A full defensive group still cannot cancel Arceus’s late-run threat.

One held item: compare the benefit

IF FOUND

Leftovers

Recovers 1.5% of HP per second.

ALTERNATIVE

Assault Vest

Adds 20% damage reduction.

Leftovers favors recovery on a slower partner. Assault Vest can help with ordinary incoming damage, but replaces the healing item rather than adding another equipment slot.

Items are found in chests and from defeated bosses. You can hold only one; finding an alternative means choosing between them, and the recommended drop is not guaranteed.

Prepare for Judgment without a timer promise

Prioritize the Bonds you can earn while ordinary rifts remain available. The current Rift system stops offering new portals near minute 28; the Judgment phase begins around minute 30 after blocking interactions end. Arceus is invincible: keep an escape route and address the other enemies instead of trying to finish it with damage.

These are game base values before account upgrades and run cards. They are not a DPS measurement and do not include target defenses, type matchups or actual landed hits.

  • Permanent upgrades belong to each Pokémon; investing in another partner does not strengthen this one.
  • Strength and Vitality help damage and health; Reflexes and Stride support frequency and movement. Prioritize the problem limiting your next attempt.
  • Ban and Card reroll can shape offers, but do not guarantee a particular card sequence.
