Defending as Normal

Fighting is the main threat to a pure Normal partner. Ghost damage is reduced, not cancelled. A second type can change both matchups.

Choose an attack for the space you have

Tackle and Body Slam need close positioning. Quick Attack adds movement, Hyper Voice covers nearby space and Substitute provides a placed attacker. Swords Dance, Agility and Harden build stats rather than dealing direct damage. Start with reliable damage, then add utility that supports it.

Eternal Meadow: the Normal Rift arena

Open ground suits circling and kiting. Steer around scattered trees and pillars while attacking on the move.

Six legendary entries can use this arena. Meloetta can instead lead to a Psychic arena because it has two types; the other five entries here are pure Normal in the game roster.

114 other Normal partners

The 120 total includes the six legendaries above and these 114 other partners. Dual-type Pokémon count once here. Starter labels describe roster status, not immediate availability.

Normal damage and weather

Normal is not among the types boosted by sun, rain, sand, snow or fog. Weather can still affect your movement and survival, so review the current conditions instead of treating a neutral damage matchup as a safe fight.

Normal-type questions

Does Normal ever deal super-effective damage?

Not against a single defending type in this chart. Its advantage is move variety rather than a ×1.6 type bonus.

Can Normal hit Ghost Pokémon?

Yes. Normal attacks deal ×0.3 to a pure Ghost target. Ghost attacks also deal ×0.3 to a pure Normal partner.

Can every Normal partner learn all eight moves?

No. The list groups moves by damage or support type, not by the learnset of every partner. Check your partner’s available choices in the game.

Does Eternal Meadow always contain a pure Normal legendary?

No. Meloetta is Normal / Psychic and can appear in either arena. Arena type and the opponent’s complete typing are separate checks.
